Elections

Today is the day I answer mail.

I don’t have much to say, except thanks to all the people that voted for me in the Best Literature Blog contest at weblog awards:

http://2007.weblogawards.org/polls/best-literature-blog-1.php

Special thanks to Breeni and Jon Swift and the mysterious SPicy for giving me blog links. I think there are a few more, but I haven’t found them all!

In addition, today is Election Day in Saint Paul. We are choosing the City Council and half of the School Board. If you are a Saint Paulite, I hope that you can get out to support the DFL team for School Board of Carroll, Kong-Thao, Hardy, and Riach as well as Dave Thune in Ward 2 and Pakou Hang in Ward 6 (I’m not taking a stand on the rest).

If you are not a Saint Paulite, you don’t know what you’re missing! Seriously, how could you know if you haven’t been here, right? It’s only logical.

I put out the flags of the USofA and Minnesota to remind people that today is a day to vote. The idea of flying the flag on Election Day is something I took from Miami, where US and Cuban flags are both rather common. I think today should be a holiday, which is to say that only holiday where your nation asks something of you. But for now, Old Glory will just have to do on its own.

So thanks everyone for all the voting you do and let’s hope that the best person for the job well, winning isn’t always an option, but we can hope that good people don’t have their spirits totally crushed, right? Thanks!
