Blogosphere

I have never understood the purpose of most blogs. I can see that it’s a fun hobby and a way to send friends an update, much like the letter sent with an Xmas card. A lot of people use it as a way to tell the world about their business. But some people treat it as much more than that.

I started this blog for one reason: I use Author’s Den as my portfolio and I have started to get a lot of work in the blogging world. Part of my income is made in 200 word bursts on strange topics like real estate. It’s a living. But if you want to see what else I can do, have a look around. Buy a copy of “Downriver” if you’d like a thought provoking and unusual read. Thank you so much!

Some bloggers seem to think this is a route to fame and possibly a lot of money. I don’t see that. I’ve been invited by some to “join the fast track to the A-List!” which doesn’t interest me at all. Something compels me to avoid being on any kind of list, A or not. Besides, who else is on this “A-List”? Are they fun people to hang out with, or are the driven to succeed? I’m not all that driven, and I spend far too much time finding four-leaf clovers (18 so far this year). I think I’d be bored at that party.

What bothers me most are the ones that include ads by google or someone else in some effort to make money. I understand we all have a mortgage to pay. What I don’t understand is being a part of someone else’s scheme for doing it. There is always the possibility that they will indeed make sure you are paid well for playing their game. Personally, I am suspicious. If I am going to make a big packet it will almost certainly be my own way.

Perhaps I will always be poor with my attitude. I certainly don’t see money as something particularly real, at least not the way the Big Boyz with lots of it play games. Real work, which is to say adding real value, is something very different than pirating someone else’s goals and working towards them. I prefer knowing that I added something to the world. I also happen to think that’s how you make real money. “Real” doesn’t mean “big” in this case, however.

Yes, I do need more work right now. I can write blog entries on nearly any topic that are much shorter than what I do here. This space is where I kick back and wonder why the world flails about as much as it does. I’d like everyone to see their blog as a kind of chaise lounge with a beverage holder in the arm. Let’s sit out in the sun a moment and think about everything and nothing, the drink in our hand and the clouds going by. The world doesn’t have to make sense, but it can be described. That’s what good banter is all about.

But if you need more, I love to tell other people’s stories at reasonable rates. That’s why I write this, after all. Send me a note as wabbitoid47@yahoo.com and I’ll let you know what I can do for you. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy the banter, since I do my best to make it thought provoking and somewhat relevant. Even while I have fun with it.
