It’s another Tuesday, the day that I answer my mail. It’s nothing more than my attempt to make up for the fact that while Author’s Den has a wonderful system for cataloguing and displaying diverse works, it has a lousy blog template that doesn’t allow comments. Sorry. I didn’t come here for the blog, but if you did I owe you a little something.
I decided that I would answer mail this whole week in a way. I get a lot of mail asking me about things that I consider very routine. Yesterday, I handled one of my fave topics, the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota, USofA, North America. You can find that entry here:

I write about Saint Paul more than just about anything else because I happen to live here. I’m sure that any other town anywhere else has its interesting quirks if you know where to look. 20 years of practice has made me adept at finding the quirks of Saint Paul, so that is what I write about. When I lived in Miami, I knew stories from that town that very few other people knew as well. Writing about these things is not intended to be a celebration of any one city, but more of a delight in the richness of any place where people live close together and share more of their lives than they often realize.
Tomorrow I will tackle the Tao Te Ching, and I’m not sure about Friday yet. I’m not making inside jokes at anyone’s expense, as you can probably tell this blog would be lousy as a stand-up routine. I don’t think that an enjoyable life comes from watching this schtick on teevee or going over to that club to be amused; life is interesting enough for anyone if you make a point of it. Whatever you study and wherever you live, there is something fun enough to keep the glorified chimp brains we all have crackling with the electricity of pleasure. I’m just here to tell you about my idea of fun, parochial as it is. Your mileage may vary. Substantial penalty for early withdrawal.
Naturally, if you think I’m deadly dull you probably disagree with my premise. Whatever. Life can be pretty dull if you want it to be. Or bleak, or full of hard work. Wait, I said that the Tao Te Ching was for tomorrow
