The ominous music buzzes on the teevee. The deep voice informs you that something dire is happening. Or perhaps the music is upbeat, and a friendly female voice just this side of a telephone sex operation comes on. What can it be? We all know that these are nothing more than political ads. The same old crap we see year after year.

Reductio ad Extremis
The show opened like so many I’ve seen before. “This is the face of Muslim extremism, a man who grew up right here in Britain just as the Tube Bombers had.” I was only watching the show on CNN to see if it covered any new ground, but it didn’t. It was the same old crap and I switched it off.
Lotsa Vacation
I just learned that President Bush has taken a total of 506 days of vacation in the 7.5 years he’s been the big cheese. That’s a bit over 67 days a year, or about 10 weeks.
Now, you may not get 10 weeks of vacation a year at your place of employment. If you’re like a growing number of Americans, you may not even get health insurance. But is this really something to whine about?

A Depression is when you lose yours.

As the economic downturn continues, a lot of people have started to wonder if we’re heading into a Depression. Teevee shows, when they bring it up at all, usually prefer the term “D Word” so as not to scare anyone. Should we be scared?
