I’m going to tell you an idea I had for a novel. Why would I tell you this rather than write it? Because, sadly, world events have rendered the premise a bit moot. I call it “Maneira Brasileira” or “The Brasilian Way”.

No Safe Harbor
Today’s blog entry has a distinct lack of fun. Sorry ’bout that. But this has to be said.
On Friday, the stock market reacted to news that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the nation’s top mortgage lenders, were on the verge of bankruptcy. Fannie Mae dropped 22% in one day, capping off a loss of 84% over the last year, as a real panic ensued.
Open yer Mouth
Let’s start with a simple question: The main reason to open your mouth is:
A) To shove food into it, or
B) To express yourself.
If you answered “B”, I think we need to talk. You figger that’s what yer mouth is for, yes?
15 Second Politics
More and more, politics has devolved into positions that can be stated in 15 seconds or less. That’s not at all a coincidence with the time it takes for the shortest of commercials that run on teevee.
